Cookies and similar technologies
A cookie is a small text record stored by a browser for a website. It may be sent back to that website with later requests. Local storage stores information on the device without automatically attaching it to each request. Rules governing access to device information can apply to both technologies and to other storage methods.
A session cookie normally ends with the browser session. Persistent storage can remain until its expiry, removal by the website or deletion through browser controls. The existence of persistent storage does not by itself determine whether it is essential; its purpose and the applicable law matter.
Storage categories
| Category | Purpose | Website treatment |
|---|---|---|
| Essential | Support a requested service, security or a record of privacy choices. | A consent interface may retain your choice. Any such record should be limited to managing that choice, not used to profile browsing. |
| Analytics | Measure use of pages and interactions across visits. | The website is configured without Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager or another analytics integration. Adding optional measurement would require an updated disclosure and any legally required consent. |
| Functional | Remember optional preferences beyond what is needed to deliver a requested service. | Navigation state is held only while the page is open. The contact form does not save its contents in website local storage or cookies. |
This table describes purposes rather than inventing cookie names or expiry periods. If a consent interface presents a specific storage inventory, use that inventory to inspect the identifier, provider and duration associated with each item.
Consent and privacy choices
UK rules on cookies and similar technologies are principally set out in the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, alongside data protection law where personal data is involved. Optional storage requires consent unless a relevant legal exemption applies. Consent should be informed, specific and as easy to withdraw as to give.
Where consent controls are displayed, you can accept optional storage, reject it or review preferences. Rejecting optional storage should not prevent access to ordinary informational pages. A record of the choice may be retained so the website can respect it. Clearing that record can cause the consent controls to appear again.
Browser controls
You can inspect and delete website data using your browser's privacy or site settings. Most browsers also allow you to block cookies, limit third-party cookies and clear stored data when closing the browser. Browser menus differ, so consult the help for the application and device you use.
For instructions, see Firefox cookie and site-data help, Chrome cookie settings or Safari cookie management. Blocking storage can affect services that depend on a saved preference. Browser privacy signals and tracking protection can provide additional controls, but their effect varies between services.
Forms, server records and external sites
The contact form prepares an email draft in your email application. It does not store the entered message in website browser storage. Your browser or password manager may offer its own autofill or form-history features; these are controlled through that software's settings. Your email provider handles the draft and sent message under its own arrangements.
Hosting systems may create technical access and security logs without using cookies. Cookie blocking does not necessarily prevent those records. External links lead to sites with their own storage practices. Opening a documentation link does not extend your choices on this website to the destination.
Updates and contact
This policy will be revised if website features or storage purposes change. New optional purposes should not be introduced merely by reusing an earlier choice that did not cover them. Questions about cookies or privacy can be sent to [email protected].
